Baku Old City (Icherisheher) is the historical heart of Azerbaijan’s capital, surrounded by ancient fortress walls. It is home to landmarks such as the Maiden Tower and the Shirvanshahs’ Palace. Shamakhi is one of the oldest cities in Azerbaijan, located in the scenic foothills of the Caucasus. In the past, it was the capital of the Shirvanshahs and a center of culture and science. The city is known for its rich history, winemaking traditions, the mausoleum of poet Seyid Azim Shirvani, and the magnificent Juma Mosque—one of the oldest mosques in the country.
